CLEVELAND – Miami University junior catcher/outfielder Max Andresen (Granger, Ind./Penn) was named the Mid-American Conference East Division’s Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Andresen put together an explosive performance during last weekend’s Flyer Classic, going 9-for-13 over the weekend after notching a lone pinch-hit appearance during last Tuesday’s meeting with Xavier. Andresen started in three different positions (catcher, left field and right field) during MU’s three-game tournament run and began the weekend with a 5-for-6, two double and four RBI performance in a 20-11 win over Canisius. He followed that up by going 2-for-4 with two triples and two RBI in an 8-4 victory against Dayton, the second game Miami played that day. He finished his onslaught on opposing pitchers by going 2-for-3 with a walk and another RBI in a 7-4 triumph over Canisius on Saturday.

With that hitting display, Andresen now leads the RedHawks in average (.415), on-base percentage (.455), slugging percentage (.707) and RBI (13). This is the first time he has earned a weekly award from the MAC in his career.

Miami returns to the field on Tuesday when it hosts Northern Kentucky at 6 p.m.
