After an off day Tuesday, Miami wraps up its annual Spring Break trip to Florida with games Wednesday to Saturday at the Russ Matt Invitational. The RedHawks face North Dakota State, Army, Navy and Valparaiso on consecutive days to close out the stretch.

Miami (5-6) has opened the trip on a successful note, winning the first three games by a total margin of  24‑6. The week started with a 4-2 win over Illinois State Saturday followed by 12-3 and 8-1 routs of Fairfield and LIU-Brooklyn, respectively, the next two days.

For the first time this season, the RedHawks have two hitters above the .300 mark. Freshman Adam Yacek is batting .364, while John Crummy stands at .313. Sophomore Matt Honchel now ranks third, raising his average 66 points to .295 since the beginning of the trip.

Sophomore Brian Thene (0-0, 3.86 ERA) draws the starting assignment for Wednesday, while junior Charles Zubrod (0-1, 3.38) will open against Army on Thursday. The weekend rotation comes back up on Friday with Brooks Fiala (1-2, 4.32) facing the Midshipmen, followed by Mac Thoreson (0-2, 6.61) in the finale.

As a team, Miami is now hitting .244, up from .205 just three days ago. The RedHawks pounded out a season-high 19 hits vs. Fairfield and 11 against LIU-Brooklyn. Over the last three games, nine hits have been for extra bases.

As a staff, Miami is averaging 6.8 strikeouts per game, while walking only 4.4 per contest. The team ERA is 4.98, while the fielding percentage is .961.
