PINEHURST, N.C. - The Miami University golf team is tied for 13th after two rounds at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. Playing the historic Pinehurst No. 2 course, the RedHawks shot a team score of 48-over par 328. For the tournament, Miami is currently at 71-over par. Old Dominion and VCU are tied for the team lead at 35-over par.

The scores reflected the fact that the student-athletes were playing on an extremely difficult course that will host the 2014 US Open. Brett Tomfohrde and Daniel Schwarz tied for the best round of the day for the RedHawks, each shooting an eight-over par 78. Tomfohrde is currently tied for 30th at 13-over par. Schwarz, who is competing as an individual this week, is tied for 76th overall at 23-over par.

Other Miami team finishers include Scott Cahill, who is tied for 54th at 18-over par. Austin Kelly is tied for 61st at 20-over par, while Luke Shaughnessy and Mark MacDonald are each tied for 81st at 25-over par.

Competing as individuals this week, Brantley Kushner is tied for 36th at 15-over par, while Jack Sparling is tied for 76th at 23-over par.

The teams will return to the Pinehurst No. 6 course (where they played the first round) for the third and final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
