CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Miami's Kyle Weldon and Mac Thoreson have been named to the All-Mid-American Conference First Team, the league office announced on the eve of the 2011 Baseball Championship. Voting was conducted by the league's head coaches.

The duo were the only two RedHawks honored on the two 15-member teams. Weldon, senior, batted .309 during the regular season, hitting a team-best nine home runs. He was tied for club lead in RBIs with 47, while slugging .500. A native of Mason, Ohio, Weldon topped the team with 20 multiple-hit games, including a pair of four-high efforts. He drove in multiple runs on 16 occasions.

Thoreson led Miami with a 1.86 earned-run average overall, but lowered that number to 1.70 in league play. He finished with a 5-3 record and had Miami's only complete game of the teams. He struck out 65 batters, second on the team, while allowing opponents to hit only .236 against him. In 92.0 innings, the sophomore from Knoxville, Tenn., allowed 80 hits and 19 walks.

Third-seeded Miami opens MAC Tournament play on Wednesday against No. 6 Toledo. First pitch is at approximately 12:30 p.m.
