The 2011 regular season comes to a close this weekend when Miami travels to Athens to face rival Ohio in a Mid-American Conference series. Wet weather has already affected the three-game set as Thursday's game was postponed. Instead, the teams will play a doubleheader Friday at 3 and the finale at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The RedHawks have won 15 of their last 20 games to stand 31-22 on the season. The win total marks the sixth time in seven years that Miami has earned 30 or more wins in a season and is the most since 2007. The 17 MAC wins equal two others for the most since 2003.

Freshman Marcus Makuch is back in the team lead in batting at .323. He is 4-for-9 in his last three games, including a pair of hits vs. Xavier on Wednesday.

Jon Edgington has been on fire lately, batting .514 (18 of 35) over the last nine games, but had an eight-game hitting streak snapped by the Musketeers. He has is second on the team in average at .322.

Kyle Weldon is fourth (.302), leads the club with eight home runs.

On the mound, the RedHawks have a 3.14 team ERA. The three weekend starters have combined for 17 of Miami's wins and a 2.79 ERA.

Friday's starters will be sophomore Tyler Melling (7-2). The duo both reached double digits for strikeouts last weekend and now have 62 and 63, respectively.

Sophomore Brooks Fiala will open Saturday's game. He has won four straight decisions to improve to 6-4. He has a 2.43 ERA, striking out 47 while walking just 12.

Ohio (25-26, 9-15) is in a race for the final MAC Tournament spot. The Bobcats won two of three at Akron last weekend.
