Injury Updates: Bowers out for rest of season
–The RedHawks made good use of their bye last week and are expecting to have some of their key playmakers back on offense. Miami hosts Ohio University Saturday, Oct. 27 at Yager Stadium. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m.
S JUSTIN BOWERS - Coach Don Treadwell confirmed that former senior starting safety Justin Bowers had knee surgery and will miss the rest of the season. Bowers injured his knee during Miami's 56-49 win over Akron Sept. 29. Freshman safety Marshall Taylor is expected to continue to start in his place.
RB JAMIRE WESTBROOK - Treadwell said the freshman starter is "very probable" for Saturday's game against Ohio. Westbrook was "banged up" in the team's 52-14 loss to Cincinnati Oct. 6. Considering the running game accounted for only three yards against Bowling Green, it will be good to get the young runner back in the mix.
WR DAWAN SCOTT - Scott is also listed as "very probable" for Saturday's game. He sustained an undisclosed injury against Cincinnati Oct. 6.
DT AUSTIN BROWN - The senior captain is listed as "doubtful" to play against Ohio this week. Brown has missed the last five games with a back injury. At this point in the season one has to wonder when or if he will return. The coaches have not elaborated or given any specifics on his injury status.
OL BRANDYN COOK - The freshman guard, who started against Ohio State in Miami's season opener, is listed as "doubtful" to return the rest of the season. He sustained a hand injury and will likely receive a medical red-shirt if he continues to sit the rest of the way.
