OXFORD, Ohio - In concurrence with the visits to the Miami University campus by incoming freshmen between now and June 28 for the 16 sessions of Summer Orientation, MURedHawks.com has been introducing the 25 freshmen that will be joining the football team this fall. With several other fall sports welcoming new athletes as well, here is a look at the incoming volleyball freshman Annie Reiswig.
Reiswig is a 6-0 outside hitter, who has been a four-year letterwinner for Truckee High School in Truckee, Calif. Despite being in California, Truckee competes in the Nevada Athletic Association for easier travel. She led the Wolverines to the Nevada 3A State Championship in each of the past three seasons. Reiswig was the Nevada 3A State MVP, and she was named to the Nevada 3A All-State team in 2009 and 2010 (Nevada did not select a team in 2011). In 2009, Reiswig was selected to the NCVA National Select Team and followed it up with an appearance on the NCVA National Youth Team in 2010.
"Annie Reiswig is a fine athlete and strong jumper,” said Coach Condit. This combination makes her a very talented left side attacker and blocker. Her solid passing and defensive skills already has her tabbed to be a six rotation player for our team. She is an outstanding ball control player and possesses the competitive personality that will make her highly successful at the Division I level."
Reiswig will be joined by two other freshmen on Miami’s 2012 team, although they aren’t true newcomers. Redshirt freshmen Jenny Ingle and Sarah Chaney joined the team last year, but each sat out the 2011 season to gain more experience. Each retains four years of eligibility. Ingle, a middle-hitter from Ludlow Falls, Ohio, is the tallest player to ever play for the Miami volleyball team at 6-5. Chaney, a local product from Middletown, will provide depth as an outside hitter.
The 2012 volleyball season begins in late August. Check back with MURedHawks.com soon for the release of the schedule and ticket information.
