CINCINNATI - The Miami University volleyball team dropped its season finale, 0-3 (15-25, 16-25, 12-25) to Big East Champion Cincinnati on Saturday. Amy Raseman led the RedHawks with six kills in her final match. Chelsea Visk had four blocks for Miami, which finishes the season at 16-16. The Bearcats improve to 26-9 overall.
Cincinnati took control of set one early, jumping to a 13-5 lead. Kills from Raseman, Cassie Farrell sparked a 5-2 run that pulled the RedHawks to within five at 10-15. Farrell would record two more kills, while Visk and Jenn Caylor would team up for a block to keep Miami within striking distance at 15-21. The Bearcats followed by taking the next four points to earn a 25-15 victory.
Meg Riley and Farrell had kills as the Red and White kept set two close early. In front 7-5, Cincinnati went on a 14-4 run that would it give it control of the set. Trailing 13-23, Miami did not give up, scoring three straight points on a kill by Raseman, a block from Caylor and Visk and a kill by a kill from Caylor. The Bearcats called timeout and out of the break proceeded to take the next two points to win, 25-16.
A service ace by Caylor and a kill from Raseman off of Riley's assist helped put Miami in front, 4-2, in set three. A 12-2 run by Cincinnati would give the Bearcats the advantage at 14-6. Riley recorded two more kills, while Raseman had one more as a 3-1 run pulled the Red and White to within six at 9-15. It would be as close as Miami could get, as a 10-3 run would close out a 25-12 victory for Cincinnati.
Farrell finished with five kills, while Riley had four. Amy Kendall led Miami with 10 assists, while Madison Hardy had nine digs. Cincinnati hit .361 for the match, while holding the RedHawks to a .055 hitting percentage.
