PORDENONE, Italy - The Miami University volleyball team took a daytrip to Venice on Tuesday, getting a chance to explore the historic city. The RedHawks traveled back-and-forth to the city by train from their hotel in Pordenone. To talk about their day, here are redshirt junior Jackie Lang and senior Lisa Treadway.

Ciao from Pordenone!

Jackie and Lisa here to talk about today's activities. Today we got to sleep in after a tough match last night and late dinner. After eating a quick breakfast we took a train into Venice. Upon arriving we realized we were in a completely different world. We all had preconceived ideas about the city's atmosphere, but nothing compares to seeing it in real life! We split up at the train station and went off in small groups to explore. We enjoyed the day by walking the narrow streets, shopping in unique boutiques, and tasting delicious foods.

Later that day we met to take team photos in San Marco Piazza, the famous port of entry established during the Crusades. There were beautiful structures throughout the square including a church, a bell tower, and quaint restaurants.

Jackie's favorite part was walking around the city and seeing all of the narrow alleyways, statues and buildings. Lisa really enjoyed eating Italian food at the café on the Adriatic Sea. The waiters were so animated and friendly, and everywhere you turned was picture perfect. Some of our teammates also took gondola rides through the canals and enjoyed eating authentic gelato. We were so grateful for perfect weather today and such an amazing experience in Venice. After a long day and the train ride home, we're ready for a great night's sleep to prepare for tomorrow's early start. We're headed to Florence for sighting seeing and we'll be in Rome by nightfall.

Until tomorrow, Arrivaderci!
