OXFORD, Ohio -- The Miami tennis team looks to continue its outstanding start to the fall season this weekend when it travels to East Lansing, Mich., to compete in the 23rd Annual Auto-Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational, hosted by Michigan State.
Mid-American Conference schools Akron, Ball State and Toledo will be joining the RedHawks in the tournament as will Cleveland State, Dayton, Illinois-Chicago, IPFW, Marquette, Purdue, Wisconsin and Xavier in addition to the host Spartans.
Six of Miami's seven players will see action for the first time during the weekend. Nimisha Mohan and Christiana Raymond have been placed in the Singles Draw A, while Alix Thurman will play in the B Draw. The C Draw includes Christine Guerrazzi with Ramona Costea in the D Draw. Ana Rajkovic is entered in the E Draw.
In the A Draw of doubles play, Thurman and Mohan are paired together in the upper half of the bracket, while Guerrazzi and Raymond are on the opposite side. Costea and Rajkovic will play as a doubles team for the second straight event, participating in the B Draw.
Play begins at 9 a.m. on Friday with action continuing Saturday and Sunday.
