ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - The Miami University men’s golf team finished sixth at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate Tournament this weekend. The RedHawks ended the tournament with a final score of 50-over par, 902. Illinois won for the second year in a row after shooting an eight-under par and a final score of 844.
"This was definitely another week of progress for us," said head coach Zac Zedrick. "We're feeling more comfortable competing against strong teams on difficult golf courses with each week."
Senior Mark MacDonald tied for 16th place after shooting nine-over par with a final score of 222. Close behind was junior Scott Cahill who tied for 20th place after shooting 10-over par with a final score of 223.
Freshman Jared Hammons tied for 33rd place after shooting 14-over par with a final score of 227 and junior Luke Shaughnessy tied for 51st after shooting 20-over par with a final score of 233. Freshman Greg Conrad tied for 58thafter shooting 26-over par with a final score of 239.
"As long as we continute to learn from each event and apply it to how we're preparing and competing in the future, we'll be in great shape by the end of the spring," said Zedrick.
The Miami University men’s golf team will be traveling to Akron, Ohio to participate in the Firestone Invitational October 7-8th.
