MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Miami women’s tennis completed play on Day 2 of the Miami Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Ana Rajkovic and freshman Andreea Badileanu will compete Saturday in the finals of their respective draws while four other players are set to battle in the consolation final of their draw.
Rajkovic won her match 6-0, 7-5 over Abilene Christian University’s Emily Conrad to advance to the finals in the Orange Draw while Badileanu downed Kaysie Hermsdorf of ACU 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. On Sunday, Rajkovic will face Memphis’ Marta Morga while Badileanu meets Memphis’ Liza Tymchenko.
Senior Christiana Raymond defeated ACU’s Micah Hermsdorf 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to advance to the consolation final of the Blue Draw. Junior Ramona Costea will play in the consolation final of the Black Draw after beating Marquette’s Laia Hernandez Soler 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 while junior Alix Thurman heads to the Gray Draw consolation final following a 6-1, 6-2 victory over ACU’s Boarman. Junior Christine Guerrazzi downed Lorena Djuknic of Lipscomb 6-3, 6-0 and now heads to the White Draw consolation final on Sunday.
Sophomore Chloe Heerden beat Ansley Boarman of ACU 6-3, 6-0 before falling to Marquette’s Vanessa Foltinger in the Pink Draw, the tournament’s only round-robin style singles draw. Heerden faces Jovana Pecovski of Chatanooga on Sunday.
In the lone doubles match of the day for MU, Costea/Badileanu fell 4-8 against Chadwell/Mulyadi of Chatanooga.
Memphis Invitational play continues Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Miami will be done with the fall portion of their 2013-14 tennis schedule at that point.
