NASHPORT, Ohio – The Miami University golf team concluded the 2013 season by placing seventh at the MAC Championship after shooting a final round 312 on Sunday. The RedHawks finished the 72-hole tournament at 83-over par. Kent State won the event for the fifth straight year, finishing at 16-over par.
Senior Brett Tomfohrde had the best round of the day for Miami shooting a four-over par 76. He finished the MAC Championship tied for 11th at 13-over par, his highest finish ever at the league championship.
Redshirt junior Mark MacDonald tied for 22nd at 18-over par after shooting a 78 on Sunday. Sophomore Scott Cahill was tied for 29th at 26-over par after shooting an 81, while junior Austin Kelly finished 38th at 31-over par after shooting a 31-over par. Sophomore Luke Shaughnessy was unable to compete after suffering an injury in the second round.
Nine golfers are scheduled to return to the RedHawks for the 2013-14 season. They will be joined by two incoming freshmen in Greg Conrad and Jared Hammons.
