SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Late morning and afternoon showers forced the cancellation of the final round of the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championship Sunday at the Rich Harvest Farms Golf Course. Most teams were only able to complete between three and nine holes on the day. Those scores were thrown out and the final scores revert back to the end of the third round. So Miami takes fifth place at 36-over par, only five shots behind second place finisher Eastern Michigan. Kent State won the tournament and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with a score of nine-under par.
Ben Peacock finished the MAC Championship as Miami’s top individual, tied for 13th at seven-over par. Mark MacDonald was tied for 21st at 11-over par. Luke Shaughnessy and Brett Tomfohrde were each tied for 26th at 13-over par, while Scott Cahill was 44th at 26-over par.
This completes the 2011-12 season for the Miami University men’s golf team. The RedHawks had no seniors and will have three incoming freshman to join the seven returning members.
