OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week men’s track and field senior thrower Rob Stein and tennis freshman Andreea Badileanu are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of March 31-April 6.

Stein helped the RedHawks win the Miami Invitational with some dominant performances in the throwing circle. The senior broke Tom Jones' 59-year old shot put record by launching a throw of 59-2, which won him the event and moved him up to third among all MAC throwers this season. He added 16 more points to Miami's team total by finishing second in both the discus (150-3) and hammer throw (183-7), accounting for 26 of the RedHawks' 278 points.

This is the first time this season and second time in his career that Stein has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week. He previously earned the honor for the week of April 22-28, 2013.

Badileanu went 4-0 last week for the Miami women’s tennis team. Badileanu teamed up with Nimisha Mohan at No. 2 doubles for a dominant 8-1 win against Buffalo and an 8-5 win against Akron amidst a doubles sweep against the Zips. She helped Miami blank Akron, 7-0, with a 7-6 (2), 6-3 win at No. 2 singles. She posted one of Miami’s two points against Buffalo with a win at No. 2 singles. Badileanu notched a 6-0 win in the first set against the Bulls and won after an injury withdrawal entering the second set. Badileanu improved to 13-3 in dual matches this season.

This is the first time in her career that Badileanu  has been named Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week.
