OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University softball coach Clarisa Crowell announced the signing of Kaitlyn Gliha (Dresden, Ohio/New Albany) to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Gliha will begin play for the RedHawks in the 2015 season.
Gliha is a three-year letterwinner, spending her freshman year a Dresden Tri-Valley High School and the last two years at New Albany High School. As a junior last season she hit .513 with 12 home runs and 47 RBIs. She was named Second-Team All-State, as well as First-Team All-District, First-Team All-Ohio Capital Conference and First-Team All-Columbus Metro. She has 22 home runs and 113 RBIs during her first three years of high school. She currently plays her club ball for the Ohio Hawks Gold and has also played for the Ohio Nightmare among other teams.
“Kaitlyn is our first recruit in the 2014 class, and I am very excited that she will be joining our team next year,” said Crowell. “I believe that she is one of the best hitters to come out of Ohio in the '14 class, and I expect her to contribute immediately. Kaitlyn is one who strives for excellence both on the field and in the classroom, and I know that she will be a great fit for our program and university.
The 2014 edition of the RedHawks will begin their season on Feb. 7-9 when they travel to Nashville for the Music City Classic Tournament.
