INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Miami University's Bekka Westrick swam a decent time Thursday morning but failed to move onto the finals of the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Swimming in the fourth of seven preliminary heats, Westrick posted a time of 22.91, a half-second slower than her Miami varsity record of 22.41. She was timed at 11.94 on the turn.

The top time in the prelims was recorded by Margo Geer of Arizona (21.73).

Westrick swims again Friday morning in the 100 butterfly prelims. She qualified for the NCAA meet in the 100 fly with a 52.19 time at this season's Miami Invitational, setting pool and varsity records.

Westrick will post her second blog from Indianapolis later Thursday evening.
