ATHENS, Ohio -- Miami University swimmers posted numerous personal bests, including a championship swim by senior Kelsey Vehr in the 200 breaststroke, as the RedHawks finished in third place behind champion Ohio and runnerup Toledo.
Eleven personal bests were recorded by Coach Maegan O'Connor (Fishers, IN).
Two PRs were recorded in the 1650 freestyle. Sarah Bullock (Louisville, KY) captured ninth place with a time of 16:53.17, while teammate Miranda Kaltenborn (Memphis, TN) clocked in at 17:01.62 and placed 12th.
In the 200 backstroke, Leah Thornton (Helena, AL) narrowly missed winning her second MAC individual title. She placed second with a time of 1:57.99. Jenny Warmolts (Upper Arlington) placed 11th (2:02.84), while Kaltenborn was 15th (2:04.23).
All three RedHawk swimmers in the 100 free had personal records Saturday. Chelsey Bruington (Mission Viejo, CA) finished in fifth place (50.75). Maddie Kete (Bay Village) was sixth (50.98) and Bekka Westrick (Fairfield) was ninth (50.86).
Vehr won her third title of the meet in the 200 breaststroke with a Miami, MAC, meet and pool record time of 2:10.37. Megan Brunn (Mansfield) finished third with a PR time of 2:12.16. Stacie Clagg (Canton) finished 13th and Katie Arlinghaus (Oxford) placed 15th.
O'Connor placed fifth in the 200 butterfly with a varsity mark of 2:01.02. Kelsey Mallon (Wheaton, IL) placed eighth (2:02.55).
Three-meter diver Nikki Craft (Bay Village) placed sixth in that event for Miami.
The final race was the 400 freestyle relay and Miami's quartet of Bruington, Westrick, Vehr and Kete just missed Miami's varsity record, swimming the distance in 3:23.00.
Vehr, Thornton and Brunn earned first-team All-MAC honors, while Westrick, Kete, Craft and Bruington were second teamers.
