OXFORD, Ohio—Miami University’s women’s soccer program signed nine student-athletes to National Letters of Intent, head coach Bobby Kramig announced on Thursday (Feb. 6).

“I’m pleased to welcome this class to Oxford and Miami Soccer,” said Kramig. “They are a talented group who I believe will enjoy great success during their collegiate careers.”

Katie Alexander (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) … midfielder … Alexander was a PSCA All-State selection in 2013 and also earned NSCAA All-Region honors as a senior. She was tabbed the 2013 West Player of the Year by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. A four-time WPIAL Section 3 All-Section honoree, Alexander earned All-WPIAL honors her final three seasons. She led the Warriors to a 23-0-0 record as a senior, winning the state title and earning a No. 4 national ranking by MaxPreps, a Region III No. 5 ranking by the NSCAA and a No. 23 national ranking by Student Sports. Alexander led Central Valley to four league titles, going undefeated in league play in three seasons and posting an unbeaten record the other season. As a sophomore Alexander and the Warriors advanced to the state semifinals, and as a junior they were the WPIAL semifinalists. She scored 20-plus goals her final three seasons and finished with 82 career goals and 65 assists while the team compiled a combined record of 77-7-2. Alexander helped Beadling Soccer Club to three PA West State Cup titles, a PA State title and USYS Region 1 championship in 2013. The team is currently ranked No. 1 in PA West.

Jenny Barr (Saint Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) … defender/forward … Barr is a two-time all-conference and all-area selection entering her senior season this spring. Over the past two years, Barr has started every game at defender and has helped St. Charles North compile a combined record of 38-10-2 over that stretch. She has anchored a defense that has amassed 31 shutouts the past two years, including 16 shutouts in 2013 en route to a 19-6-1 mark and a top-eight finish in the state. Barr tallied four goals and six assists during the 2013 season. She has helped the North Stars to two regional and section titles. As a sophomore, the North Stars finished second in the state and amassed a 19-4-1 record. She recorded four goals and six assists. She plays for the Fox Valley Strikers club team, helping it to two top-eight finishes in Illinois. The team is currently ranked No. 6 in Illinois.

Julia Bruno (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) … midfielder … Bruno was a three-time all-district selection, earning first-team honors as a junior in 2012 and also was an all-conference pick in 2012. She was a three-year captain at Olentangy Liberty, spearheading the team to district runner-up finishes in 2013 with an 11-3-5 record during her senior season and also helped the team to a district runner-up finish in 2010. Bruno participated in the Senior All-Star game. Over her last three years at Olentangy Liberty, she compiled 26 goals and 22 assists. She participated in the Olympic Developmental Program from 2008-12, playing with the Ohio South state team all four years. She also plays for the Crew Juniors.

Madison Knock (Avon, Ind./Avon) … defender … Knock was an all-state selection as a senior as she helped her Avon High School team to a state championship. In addition to the state title, she helped Avon to a pair of district championships. She was a two-time all-district selection and earned all-conference honors in 2013. A three-year letterwinner at Avon High School, Knock also was a member of an Olympic Development Program team that finished second in the nation in 2013. Her club team posted a runner-up finish in Indiana is ranked No. 1 in the state.

Chloe Knue (Mason, Ohio/Mason) a forward/midfielder … Knue earned Second-Team All-State honors as a senior and was a First-Team All-GMC selection as well as an All-Southwest Ohio and Cincinnati Enquirer Division I First Team honoree in 2013. She spearheaded Mason to the state finals in 2012 and 2013, as Mason posted a combined 38-5-3 mark during that stretch. As a senior, she scored 16 goals and tallied 10 assists. Knue plays for Cincinnati United Premier, which is ranked No. 2 in Ohio South.

Amy Malone (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) … midfielder … Malone was a First-Team All-State selection in 2013 and also earned all-district honors at Carmel High School. A four-year letterwinner at Carmel High School, Malone helped the team to a state title in 2011 and a No. 1 national ranking by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and ESPN Rise. During her time at Carmel, she played in 77 games, making 63 starts, and averaged 56 percent for shots on goal while posting 12 goals and 29 assists. Malone plays for the Carmel United club team and helped them to a U15 ECNL runner-up finish in 2011. Her Carmel ECNL team is ranked No. 3 in Indiana.

Jenn  Rowe (Waterloo, Ontario/Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate & Vocational School) … midfielder … Rowe has an impressive soccer background. This year she is playing with Chelsea Ladies FC in Fulham, England. In 2013, Rowe played with the London Gryphons in the W-League in her native Canada. Prior to that she was a member of the Canadian National Training Center Program from 2011-13. She led the North London Galaxy team to a Canadian National Championship and Ontario Cup title in 2012.In 2011, Rowe helped the North London Galaxy to a U18 Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL) Championship and a Canadian national runner-up finish. Rowe and the North London Galaxy were the U16 OYSL West Champions and Canadian national participants in 2010.

Anna Rose Wiencek (Medina, Ohio/Highland) … midfielder … Wiencek was a Second-Team All-State selection as a senior. She was a three-time all-league and all-county pick, earning first-team distinction as a junior and senior, and also was twice named to the all-district first team and was twice tabbed a Greater Akron All-Star. She helped Highland to a 32-13-8 record her final three years, including a pair of district semifinal finishes her final two seasons. It was the first time in school history the Hornets reached the district semifinals. Over her four years, Wiencek scored 26 goals and posted 20 assists. She plays for the Internationals club team, which earned State Cup titles from 2009-12 and posted a second-place national league finish in 2012. She is currently a member of Internationals ECNL.

Kat Zalar (Concord, Ohio/Hawken) … forward … Zalar earned First-Team All-State honors and was an NSCAA All-Region selection in 2013. She was named the All Greater Cleveland Division III Player of the Year and the News-Herald Player of the Year, while capturing Chagrin Valley Conference MVP honors. Zalar also was a first-team all-conference and all-area selection as a senior. Zalar led Hawken to four section, three district and two conference and region titles. A four-year letterwinner, Zalar helped the Hawks to a 48-11-18 record and scored 55 goals and tallied 35 assists. She set a school record with 26 goals and 20 assists during her senior campaign. Zalar plays for the Cleveland United Soccer Club, who earned a U17 national title in 2013 and earned a No. 1 national ranking. The team is currently ranked No. 1 in Ohio North.
