CINCINNATI--The Miami University men’s basketball team dropped a 77-51 decision on Wednesday night to Xavier University. The contest was the 100th meeting between the two teams and was played inside the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Miami (0-3) and the Musketeers traded baskets for much of the first half and following a jumper by sophomore center John Hawkins the game was tied at 15-15 with 12:34 left in the opening frame. XU concluded the first half on a 21-9 run to take a 36-24 advantage into the locker room.

In the first half XU made 5-of-10 three-pointers while the RedHawks connected on just 2-of-12 buckets from behind the arc. For the game, Xavier was 9-of-21 from three, while Miami was 5-of-23 on three-pointers.

Xavier (4-0) outscored the Red and White 41-27 in the second half.

Sophomore guard Geovonie McKnight led Miami in scoring with 10 points. Senior forward Will Felder and freshman forward Joshua Oswald each finished with eight points. Oswald, who established a new career-high in scoring, was a perfect 2-for-2 from behind the arc.

Senior guard Quinten Rollins led Miami with five rebounds and freshman guard Jaryd Eustace finished with four boards and tied for a team-high with three assists. Senior center Blake McLimans finished the contest with five blocks, tied for the fifth-most in school history.

Xavier finished the game 30-of-59 shooting compared to Miami’s 20-of-53 and out-rebounded the RedHawks 42-25.

Up next for the Red & White will be a home contest versus Wilmington College Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. inside Millett Hall.
