TOLEDO, Ohio - Although the Miami University women’s soccer team had a disappointing finish to its 2010 season with a 2-1 loss in the Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinals to Central Michigan Friday, senior Julie Thompson and sophomore Jess Kodiak were tabbed to the All-MAC Tournament Team following Sunday’s title game.
Miami has now had five ‘Hawks named to the All-MAC Tournament team in the last two years, after Miami placed three on the squad last year when it made the MAC title game.
Kodiak (Naperville, Ill.) and Thompson (Glenview, Ill.) led the RedHawks to a 2-0 quarterfinal win over Akron Sunday, Oct. 31, as Miami made a second straight trip to the MAC Tournament semifinals. The two midfielders combined for seven shots and three on goal in the two tournament matches, and although neither recorded a point they helped feed the ball out of the midfield that led to three RedHawks scores.
Friday’s semifinal loss was Thompson’s final game in a Red and White uniform while Miami finished the year 13-7-2 (5-4-2 MAC), its most wins since 2002, and won the MAC East title.
