INDIANAPOLIS— Six RedHawks from the Miami University women’s track and field team earned berths in the NCAA East Preliminary Round, the NCAA announced on Thursday afternoon.

Senior Tori Paterra (javelin), junior Charlotte Myers (800m) sophomore Laura Bess (1500m), junior Anna Lamb (10,00m), sophomore Amelia Strickler (shot put) and junior Adaora Anunike (discus) all posted qualifying marks.

Paterra and Myers won their respective events last weekend at the Mid-American Conference Championships. Paterra's throw of 55.91m/183-5 in the javelin shattered her own Miami record and set a new MAC meet record ranks as the fourth-best distance in the region this season. Paterra is a three-time NCAA Championship qualifier and two-time All-American in the javelin.

Myers clocked a personal-best time of 2:07.21 in the 800m at the MAC Championships last weekend, which catapulted her to second on Miami’s top-10 outdoor track performers list. Her time ranks 36th in the region in the 800m.

Anunike qualified with a throw of 50.87m/166-11 in the discus, which she recorded at the All-Ohio Championships. Her throw ranks 27th in the region. Strickler posted a mark of 15.11m/49-7 in the shot put to qualify the NCAA East Preliminary Round with her throw at the Drake Relays. Her throw ranks 39th in the region. This is the second straight year Strickler has qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round.

Bess qualified for the 1500m with a time of 4:24.57, which she ran at the Billy Hayes Invitational. Her time ranks 43rd in the region. Lamb earned a spot in the 10,000m with the time she ran at the Mt.  SAC Relays. Her time of 34:50.02 ranks her 43rd in the region. This is her second apperance at the NCAA Prelims.

The NCAA East Preliminary Round will take place May 29-31 in Jacksonville, Fla.
