Introducing...

It's not everyday one chooses to return to college after two years of working as a professional - especially for an internship - but that's exactly what I did earlier this week when I accepted a sports reporter position with the Miami University Athletic Communications staff.

I left a full-time job in Prescott, Ariz., where I served as a sports editor for a small-market newspaper. As many of you well know, newspapers of all sizes are struggling these days and I felt the need to take a risk in hopes of advancing my career.

I know the Southwest Ohio sports scene very well, as I'm a sports journalism graduate from the University of Cincinnati (try not to roll your eyes, I'm one of you now) and have followed MAC athletics for quite some time. Also, my sister Hilary is a current Miami student who fills me in (more like rubs it in) whenever the RedHawks win a big game. So, for the next eight months I will be your eyes and ears in and around the Miami sports scene.

I look forward to bringing you in-depth features, player profiles, previews, recaps and much more. I will also write the "Miami Monday" update, which is a look back at last week's results as well as a look ahead at the upcoming sports week, and will write several blog posts each week, including the best sports quotes (Quotation Marx) and best performances (High Marx) from the previous week. I will mainly concentrate on football, basketball and ice hockey, but will also cover a wide variety of other sports when time permits.

My articles and blog posts will appear here on MURedHawks.com and occasionally in the Cincinnati Enquirer. Follow me on Twitter at @RedHawkReMarx and feel free to email me with any questions, ideas, tips and/or facts at marxpc@miamioh.edu.

Let's make this a great year and go RedHawks!
