Local Bands to Play Saturday

Weekly Game Notes

OXFORD, Ohio – With football season underway, the Miami University Athletics Department has plenty in store to enhance RedHawk fan’s game day experience.

Saturday’s contest against Eastern Kentucky will be the second time the new Red Zone tailgating area is in use. The Red Zone features an area for free game day activities, the Red & White Club tent and hosting area (for members) and additional concession options with more vendors. The tailgating area is also part of the official entrance for the Miami football team as the players, cheerleaders and band members enter the stadium two hours before kickoff – by being dropped off in the Red Zone and walking to the stadium.

A number of changes were incorporated by Miami Athletics in an added emphasis to make sure the student body has an even better experience at Yager Stadium. Students will now be able to tailgate in the End Zone, the new student tailgate area located next to the Red Zone. That area also features concessions, a grill and a DJ. With the RedHawks switching sidelines this season, students can impact the game in a big way with their seats located directly behind the visitor’s bench.

Enhancements are also coming to the game day experience itself in the stadium. The stadium’s sound system and video board have been improved and the RedHawks will have a sideline host to interact with the fans at the game. Additionally, there will be more student entrances for easier access to the stadium, social media posts included on the video board, enhanced out of town scores, a new Swoop’s FanFEST that’s located behind the South end zone with games for all ages, more fan promotions and video highlights.

As a reminder, every Miami football season ticket holder receives a number of perks, including discounts on Miami gear, specific seat locations and special giveaways that include a John Harbaugh mini statue on Oct. 4.
