OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University’s 2013 football schedule is packed with plenty of exciting games, including non-conference game match-ups against teams from the Big Ten and the Southeastern Conference, plus traditional rivalry games against Cincinnati and Marshall.

Spirits are high that Coach Don Treadwell’s club will bounce back from last year’s disappointing season. Veteran quarterback Austin Boucher and receiver Dawan Scott will spark the offense, while letter winners man 10 of the 11 starting defensive positions, including all-star cornerback Dayonne Nunley. Fold in a highly rated incoming freshman class and the ingredients for excitement are in place.

Here’s a game-by-game breakdown of the RedHawks’ 2013 football opponents:

Sat., Aug. 31 (time TBA) – at Marshall (5-7 overall, 4-4 Conference USA in 2012): One pre-season publication projected that seven Thundering Herd players will be All-Conference USA selections in 2013.

Sat., Sept. 7 (time TBA) – at Kentucky (2-10 overall, 0-8 SEC in 2012): First-year Coach Mark Stoops’ Wildcats will be re-energized in 2013, even though there are lots of positional question marks.

Sat., Sept. 21 (time TBA) – CINCINNATI (10-3 overall, 5-2 Big East): The Bearcats begin the first season of the Tommy Tuberville Era. UC finished last season with a No. 22 national ranking.

Sat., Sept. 28 (time TBA) – at Illinois (2-10 overall, 0-8 Big Ten in 2012): Coach Tim Beckman’s Fighting Illini will enter 2013 with a stronger sense of purpose and a more firm knowledge of the system.

Sat., Oct. 5 (time TBA) – CENTRAL MICHIGAN (7-6 overall, 4-4 MAC in 2012): Wide receiver Titus Davis will provide CMU with one of the conference’s top offensive weapons in 2013.

Sat., Oct. 12 (time TBA) – at Massachusetts (1-11 overall, 1-7 MAC in 2012): Coach Charlie Molnar’s Minutemen will be better than they were a year ago, their first season as a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Sat., Oct. 19 (time TBA) – AKRON (1-11 overall, 0-8 MAC in 2012): Akron’s 11 2013 FBS opponents went a combined 90-54 in 2012, making it a challenging season for the Zips.

Sat., Oct. 26 (time TBA) – at Ohio (9-4 overall, 4-4 MAC in 2012): The offensively explosive duo of quarterback Tyler Tettleton and running back Beau Blankenship will give Bobcat foes fits in 2013.

Tue., Nov. 6 (8 p.m.) – BOWLING GREEN (8-5 overall, 6-2 MAC in 2012): Linebacker Gabe Martin and game-changing safety BooBoo Gates make the Falcons’ defense one of the MAC’s best.

Wed., Nov. 13 (time TBA) – at Kent State (11-3 overall, 8-0 MAC in 2012): Running back Dri Archer, perhaps the most dangerous running back in the MAC, returns in 2013.

Tue., Nov. 19 (time TBA) – BUFFALO (4-8 overall, 3-5 MAC in 2012): The Bulls could have a break-out season in 2013, especially since they have both running back Branden Oliver and receiver Alex Neutz on the offensive side of the ball.

Fri., Nov. 29 (time TBA) – at Ball State (9-4 overall, 6-2 MAC in 2012): Talented defensive linemen Jonathan Newsome and Nathan Ollie are two of the MAC’s best front-line players.
