OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University football’s depth chart coming out of spring drills and heading into August includes letter winners at nine of the eleven starting positions.

As expected, senior AUSTIN BOUCHER (Kettering) steps in to replace Zac Dysert as the RedHawks’ starting quarterback. He’s a proven commodity, having led Miami to four consecutive victories at the tail end of the 2010 season, including a victory in the GoDaddy.com Bowl. In 17 career games, Boucher has thrown for 1,278 yards and seven touchdowns. Junior DREW KUMMER (Cincinnati) and sophomore AUSTIN GEARING (Franklin) are in a dead heat for back-up duty behind Boucher.

Running backs JAMIRE WESTBROOK (Lebanon) and SPENCER TREADWELL (East Lansing, MI) are listed as co-starters by offensive coordinator JOHN KLACIK. Westbrook, a sophomore, compiled 361 rushing yards on the ground and 78 more through the air last season, while Treadwell, a junior, had 234 rushing yards plus 77 receiving yards.

At left tackle, JEFF TANNER (Cincinnati) won the job. The senior (6-3, 290 pounds) earned his first letter in 2012. Rising sophomore NICK CUSTER (Cincinnati) won the back-up job.

Senior JOHN ANEVSKI (Cincinnati) emerged as the start at left guard. He’s had six career starts. Rising sophomore TERRY DAVIS (Cincinnati) will be Anevski's back-up.

Slotted as the starting center is junior MARCUS MATTHEWS (Manassas, VA). He’s already compiled 19 starting assignments through his first two seasons with Miami, though none as a RedHawk center. Expect a true freshman to be his reserve.

The right guard is redshirt freshman BRANDYN COOK (Cincinnati). He started his very first collegiate game last season as a true freshman at Ohio State, but a hand injury in that game ended his season. Sophomore TREVAN BROWN (Florence, KY) is listed as Cook’s back-up.

Junior ZACH LEWIS (Mt. Prospect, IL) started three games at right tackle and nine more at left tackle in 2012. He’s penciled in ahead of senior JULIAN GREEN (Centreville, MD) at right tackle.

The starting tight end is senior STEVE MARCK (Newtown, PA). The three-year letter winner had a career-best 27 receptions for 299 yards a year ago, ranking fourth-best in catches. Three-time letterman DUSTIN WHITE (Lake Charles, LA) accounted for 12 catches last season.

With Andy Cruse, Luke Swift and Nick Harwell having left Miami’s roster, the spotlight will be shared by juniors DAWAN SCOTT and DAVID FRAZIER, both products of Columbia, SC. Scott had 57 receptions for 851 yards and seven touchdowns last season, while Frazier had nine catches for 151 yards. Scott will be the starter at the “A” receiver position and will be backed up by rising sophomore FRED McRAE (Miami, FL). Frazier will head into August drills as a starter at “X” and will be relieved by junior ALVONTA JENKINS (Camden, SC).

The “Z” receiver position has rising sophomore ROKEEM WILLIAMS (Williston, SC) ahead of rising sophomore SAM SHISSO (Charlotte, NC). Both players will be seeking their first varsity letters in 2013.
