Coach John Cooper
Opening statement: "First of all, congratulations to Mark (Montgomery) and his guys. I thought they played extremely well. I thought they were very competitive. I thought they played with a sense of urgency as they came in here, and I think that's their first road win of the year."
On Miami's play and overall effort: "I didn't think we played particularly well. Certainly, some of that was (Northern Illinois), but our lack of emotion, a lack of passion, those were the things that bothered me. We are who we are and our margin for error is very, very small, but yet we always have to make sure to bring our competitive nature to the game and that we understand that has to be who we are."
Junior Forward Will Felder
General thoughts on the game: (Northern Illinois) came out ready to play. We were a little flat to start out with and that had a big effect on the game later on down the line.
On NIU pulling away in the second half: One big thing for us was free throws. We missed a lot of free throws that I thought we needed down the line and (we had) a lot of possessions that we needed stops we didn't get."
Coach Mark Montgomery
Opening statement: "It was two even teams. It was deadlocked at halftime. We both had our runs. I thought this was out best shooting night. We went 9-of-13 (from beyond the arc). I don't know if we can go 9-of-13 in practice. We shared the ball. We made some free throws. We finally finished a game. We are happy to get a win."
On having extra time to practice the last two weeks: "Our 10 days off gave us a lot of time to practice and do some extra shooting and it's good that it paid off. We played hard and we just made a few more plays than (Miami)."
