OXFORD, Ohio – The 2011 college football preview magazines have arrived and Miami University football players are being ranked among the best in the Mid-American Conference. MURedHawks.com reviews the pre-season magazines produced by Blue Ribbon, Athlon and Phil Steele.

BLUE RIBBON MAGAZINE

Blue Ribbon forecasts Miami as the runner-up to Ohio in the 2011 MAC East Division. Lineman Brandon Brooks (Milwaukee, WI) is the RedHawks’ lone offensive first-team all-MAC selection, while lineman D.J. Brown (West Chester) were first-team picks on defense.

ATHLON

Athlon didn’t give the RedHawks much love in its team predictions, tabbing Miami as the MAC East’s fifth-best club. Defensively, Brandon Brooks got second-team mention on offense.

PHIL STEELE

As a team, Miami was chosen by Phil Steele's College Football Preview to finish third in the MAC East. Miami’s Brandon Brooks and D.J. Brown, Anthony Kokal (Warren) was picked as a third-team all-defensive player, while C.J. Marck (Newtown, PA) were fourth-teamers. Offensively, quarterback Zac Dysert (Ada) and receiver Nick Harwell (Missouri City, TX) were tabbed as third-team selections. Steele chose Miami’s defensive unit and its linebackers as best in the MAC. Dysert was picked as the nation’s No. 47 quarterback, Austin Brown was Steele’s 58th-best defensive tackle, Wedge was his 45th-best inside linebacker, Harris was ranked as the nation’s 65th-best outside linebacker, while Kokal (37th) and Hinkel (41st) both were ranked among college football’s top safeties.
