RICHMOND, Ky. – In their last home match during the month of February, the Miami University women’s tennis team defeated Eastern Kentucky University, 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. After dropping the doubles point, the RedHawks rallied to win five of the six singles matches.

Miami (6-2, 0-0 MAC) won their second consecutive match with the victory on Saturday while EKU (3-6, 0-0 OVC) lengthened their losing streak to five in a row.

In doubles action, the Colonels won at No. 1 and No. 2 to secure the doubles point over the Red and White. Miami is now 8-13 in doubles action during match play this season.

In singles play, senior Nimisha Mohan won 7-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles against EKU’s Kristina Labeja. At No. 2 singles, senior Christiana Raymond won 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 while freshman Andreea Badileanu won 6-3, 7-6 at No. 3 singles. Junior Christine Guerrazzi fell at No. 4 singles, 7-6, 6-2. Miami picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles with junior Ramona Costea downing her opponent 6-3, 6-1 and sophomore Ana Rajkovic emerging victorious by a score of 2-6, 6-4, (11-9)

Freshman Andreea Badileanu extended her singles win streak to four consecutive matches while improving her season record to a team-leading 7-1 mark. Miami improved its singles record during 2014 match play to a solid mark of 30-14.

Miami is off next weekend before returning home to face Marshall on Sunday, Mar. 2 at 10 a.m.
