COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Miami junior forward Austin Czarnik (Washington, Mich./Green Bay (USHL)) was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Czarnik tied for the team lead with five points to help Miami go unbeaten at Bemidji State last week. The junior assisted on five of the RedHawks’ six goals in Saturday’s 6-3 victory, which snapped a four-game winless streak (0-3-1). The five points were a career best and helped him eclipse 100 career points, becoming the 48th player in school history to accomplish the feat.
Entering this week, Czarnik is tied for third nationally with 24 points while his 17 assists are the second-highest total in the country.
The 12th-ranked RedHawks are back in action this weekend when they host Denver at Steve Cady Arena on Friday (7:35 p.m.) and Saturday (7:05 p.m.).
