SUGAR GROVE, Ill. –The Miami University golf team finished in 13th place Friday after their first round at the Northern Intercollegiate tournament. Shooting a team score of 315, the RedHawks are at 27-over par and are four shots out of 12th place. Houston leads the tournament with a team score of nine-under par, 279.

Returning sophomore Jack Sparling had a great day for Miami shooting a score of one-under par 71. He is tied for 11th place along with eight other individuals.

Freshman Greg Conrad had a score of 81 shooting 9-over par in his collegiate debut. He is tied for 71st along with seven other individuals, one of them being senior teammate Mark MacDonald who also had a score of 81.

Other scores for Miami included junior Scott Cahill, who is in 78th at 10-over par, and sophomore Daniel Schwarz, who was in 88th at 15-over par.

The Northern Intercollegiate tournament continues on Saturday with the second round.
