PINEHURST, N.C. - The Miami University golf team is in 14th place after shooting an opening round score of 23-over par 307 Sunday at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. Old Dominion leads the tournament at two-over par.

Brantley Kushner had the best round of any RedHawk on Sunday, shooting a one-over par 72. He is tied for 12th overall individually. His round does not count towards the Miami team total as he is playing as an individual this week.

Amongst the five-members representing the RedHawks team total, Austin Kelly was the top finisher, shooting a four-over par round of 75. He is currently tied for 37th. Brett Tomfohrde is right behind him in a tie for 50th after a round of five-over par 76. Scott Cahill and Luke Shaughnessy each are tied for 65th after shooting a 78, while Mark MacDonald shot an 83 and is tied for 82nd.

Other Miami finishers participating as individuals this week include Jack Sparling, who is tied with Kelly in 37th after shooting a 75, and Daniel Schwarz, who is tied for 90th after shooting an 86.

The Pinehurst Intercollegiate continues with the second round on Monday. That round will be played at the historic Pinehurst No. 2 course, which will host the 2014 US Open.
