  • With the 3-2 win Friday, the RedHawks now have an eight-game unbeaten streak (6-0-2) and a season-long four-game winning streak.

  • With the 3-2 win, Miami is now 9-0-0 this season when scoring three goals or more. The RedHawks also improved to 6-0-3 at home this year, outscoring the opposition 27-13 at Steve Cady Arena.
  • Freshmen scored all three goals for Miami Friday, the second time this year only freshmen have scored goals with the other the 1-1 tie against Providence Oct. 19. Riley Barber had Miami's only goal in that game while he, Sean Kuraly and Kevin Morris scored against the Lakers Friday.
  • Freshman Riley Barber scored his second career game-winning goal 2:09 into the third period. His unassisted goal gives Barber 19 points and seven goals this year, tying sophomore Austin Czarnik for the team lead in both categories and CCHA lead in points. Barber is now on a four-game point streak and has a point in 12 of 15 games this year. He continues to lead all rookies nationally, averaging 1.27 points per game.

  • The RedHawks failed to score during the first period, and were unable to keep the Lakers off the scoreboard during a Lake Superior power play. The last time Miami failed to score first during a game was Nov. 10 against Northern Michigan, a span of five games. Miami improved to 2-1-2 when not scoring first this year.

  • The RedHawks bounced back in the second period when freshman Kevin Morris scored his third goal of the season with 4:23 left in the period off assists from seniors Curtis McKenzie and Steven Spinell. McKenzie now has six assists on the season, including one in three straight games, while Spinell has three. McKenzie is also now riding a career-long four-game point streak.

  • Freshman Sean Kuraly put Miami in the lead three minutes later off helpers by senior Marc Hagel and freshman Chris Joyaux. It was Kuraly's third goal of the season after scoring his second goal Nov. 10 against Northern Michigan. It was Kuraly's first even-strength goal as a RedHawk as his first two goals came on the power play.

  • Hagel's assist puts him at three assists for the season with his last assist coming last Friday against Alaska. He then totaled a season-high two goals and two points against the Nanooks Saturday night, as he is now riding a three-game point streak. Prior to his point streak he had just one point as a RedHawk.

  • Freshman defenseman Chris Joyaux broke his dry streak this season with his helper on Kuraly's goal. The last time Joyaux earned a point in a game was Oct. 13 against Colgate, which was his first career point.

  • The RedHawks fired 45 shots against the Lakers, setting a season high. Miami's previous season best was 40 shots Nov. 3 at Ferris State.

  • The RedHawks improved their series record with Lake Superior to 39-57-11 overall and 26-20-7 in Oxford.

  • The RedHawks increased their record to 10-2-3 overall and 7-2-2-2 in the CCHA as Miami remained in first place in the league standings.

  • The RedHawks will return to the ice Saturday, Dec. 8 at 7:05 p.m. to finish this weekend's series against the Lake Superior State Lakers. It will be Miami's final home game for 46 days before hosting Bowling Green Jan. 25.
