OXFORD, Ohio - In conjunction with the final season of the CCHA (Central Collegiate Hockey Association), Miami will be recognizing some of its greatest players to have ever played in the CCHA throughout the 2012-13 season. On Tuesday, Miami revealed its All-1980s CCHA Team, as fans voted over the last three weeks on their top players from Miami's first decade in the CCHA (1981-1989).

For each decade, Miami will announce a first and a second team before naming Miami's All-Time CCHA Team toward the end of the season. The first team will be the top three vote-getters at forward, the two defensemen who receive the most votes and the top goaltender. The second team will be the next three vote-getters at forward, the third and fourth defensemen to get the most votes and the second goaltender.

After all 275 ballots were tallied, Miami's All-1980s First Team consists of Steve Morris, Rick Kuraly, Bill Bok and Vern Sketchley at forward, Kevin Beaton and Andrew McMillin on defense and Alain Chevrier in goal. Sketchley and Bok tied with exactly 108 votes creating four forwards on the first team while Morris was the top vote-getter at forward with 173. Beaton earned 198 votes as the top defenseman while Chevrier earned 222 votes.

Morris (1979-83), who earned four letters at Miami, appeared in 145 games while recording 202 points, as he still stands as Miami's all-time leading point-scorer.  He also is Miami's all-time leading assist man with 138 career helpers, while scoring 64 goals as a Redskin. Morris was a two-time team captain in his final two years at Miami while he was the team's leader in points and assists in three of his four years. He was named team MVP as a sophomore in 1980-81 and was elected into Miami's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994.

Kuraly (1979-83) earned four letters at Miami where he played in 145 games while racking up 179 points, which still ranks third in school history. He is Miami's all-time leading goal-scorer with 101 and is also tops in program history with 36 power play goals. Kuraly led Miami in goals in three of his four years, including 31 in 1980-81. He was named Honorable Mention Academic All-CCHA as a senior.

Bok (1978-82), who received four letters while playing in Oxford, totaled 169 points in 136 career games as he ranks fifth in Miami history for career points. His 72 goals are also fifth all-time at Miami while his 97 assists rank eighth. Bok was a team captain in 1980-81 and ranks in the top five on Miami's single-season points and goals list with 66 points and 32 goals in 1978-79.

Sketchley (1978-82) was a four-year letterwinner at Miami, racking up 158 points in 131 games. He ranks seventh on Miami's all-time points list with 80 goals and 78 assists while his 80 goals are third in school history. A team captain in 1980-81, he was a physical presence on the ice as he holds the school record for career penalty minutes with 338 and led the team in that category for three years.

Beaton (1979-83), another four-year letterwinner, logged 150 points in 142 career games with the 150 points the most by a Miami defensemen in a career while he currently ranks ninth all-time in points at Miami. Beaton's 103 career assists are tied for fourth in school history. He served as team captain his final two years at Miami while also being named the team's MVP both years after earning Rookie of the Year in 1979-80. Beaton was named Second-Team All-CCHA as a senior in 1982-83, the first Miami player in program history to earn All-CCHA honors. He was elected to Miami's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.

McMillin (1980-84) received four varsity letters at Miami, appearing in 132 career games while totaling 75 points on 14 goals and 61 assists. He was a three-time team captain and earned the team's Most Improved Player award as a freshman.

Chevrier (1980-84) was a four-year letterwinner in net, playing in 100 games while compiling a 4.18 goals-against average and an .870 save percentage while going 32-45-3 during his career. His 100 games played rank third in school history among goalies as does his 2,440 career saves. Chevrier's 5,234 minutes in goal are fourth all-time at Miami while posting the team's top GAA all four years of his career. He was the team's Rookie of the Year in 1980-81 before being named Outstanding Defensive Player in 1982-83. Chevrier was inducted into Miami's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.

Miami's All-1980s Second Team features Todd Channell, Bill Easdale and Dave Wheeldon at forward, Dave McClintock and Bob Wallwork at defense and Dan Kodatsky as the goaltender.

Channell (1982-86) ranks eighth in school history with 155 career points in 146 career games, while he earned Team MVP honors as a senior. Easdale (1982-86) is tied for 23rd in program history with 123 points in 137 career games while serving as team captain his final two years. Rounding out the second-team forwards, Wheeldon (1980-84) totaled 128 points in 126 games, as he sits 18th in school history in points.

Defensively, McClintock (1978-83) is tied for 19th in school history with 126 career points in 138 games while becoming Miami's first three-time captain from 1980-83. Wallwork (1987-91) totaled 91 points in 115 career games, including leading the team in assists with 30 in 1989-90. Kodatsky (1978-82) was Miami's first varsity goaltender, playing in 75 games while posting a 24-2-2 record with a 3.82 GAA and an .886 save percentage. He was named the team's MVP following the 1979-80 season.
