OXFORD, Ohio -- Matt Honchel went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and four others added a pair of hits to lift the White team to a 4-1 win Saturday afternoon in the finale of the annual Red and White intrasquad series. The Red team had already clinched the title by winning games Thursday and Friday.

Sophomore Austin Rooke had a triple among his two hits, while Alex Johnson and Max Andressen each doubled and singled. Alex Brown was effective in his start, allowing just one run in three innings. He struck out three. Tyler Simmons pitched three shutout innings in relief.

For the Red team, Julian Flannery and Matt Packer both singled twice. Seth Varner allowed just one run in three innings on the mound.

The series concludes the official portion of the fall practice schedule. The RedHawks open the 2013 season Feb. 15 against Michigan State in Greenville, S.C.
