OXFORD, Ohio - Miami fans and students alike are running out of time to reserve their spot at Miami Hockey's third annual Face-Off Event, set for Wednesday, Oct. 10. The program, co-sponsored by the Blue Line Club and Red & White Club, offers fans the chance to interact with players and coaches, learn about the team and get fired up for another season of RedHawk hockey.
The Face-Off Event will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Shriver Center on Miami's campus for the second straight year. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for a social half hour while the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to the public with tickets costing $20 for adults and $15 for youth (under 18), however the deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, Oct. 5.
Those wishing to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets online here. RSVPs can also be made by contacting Roseann McGuire at 513-529-9810 or by emailing her at email@example.com. Dinner is included in the price of admission and attire for the evening is business casual.
Miami students are also invited to the Face-Off Event with 50 free seats being awarded to the first 50 students who sign up. To RSVP, send your full name, campus address, year in school, email and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline for students to receive one of the free seats is Sunday, Oct. 7. Students who do not RSVP for a free seat will have to pay the full $20 at the door, should they choose to attend.
Fans and students at the Face-Off Event will get to enjoy a homestyle buffet dinner with the players, as RedHawks will be seated at various tables throughout the room.
Highlighting the evening will be guest speaker Patrick Burke, older brother of the late Brendan Burke, former Miami team manager. Patrick, currently an NHL scout for the Philadelphia Flyers, will deliver his powerful message about equity and opportunity in sports, and discuss the founding of his program, the You Can Play Project.
In addition to Patrick, head coach Enrico Blasi will address the crowd about the upcoming season and take part in a question and answer session with fans in attendance. Senior captain Steven Spinell will also answer questions and speak about the 2012-13 RedHawks and what fans can expect from this year's team. The entire 2012-13 team will be introduced as well, giving fans a first peak at Miami's 13 newcomers. A special highlight video will also be shown during the night.
Those in attendance will have the opportunity to get autographs from the players and walk away with great prizes as a raffle will be held at the end of the evening, when fans can win Miami apparel, memorabilia and tickets to Miami hockey games. In addition, a silent auction will be held during the first hour of the program when fans can bid on an authentic Hockey City Classic jersey with custom name and number and an autographed Alec Martinez Stanley Cup framed poster.
The RedHawks open their season with an exhibition game against Western Ontario Sunday, Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. before beginning the regular season Oct. 12-13 by hosting Colgate at here.Arena. Tickets are available for all three games
