Every summer, in the month of June, the Marketing Department focuses on Incoming Student Orientation. The class of 2016 students and their families venture onto campus for sixteen two day sessions to learn about Miami Tradition and other opportunities while being a student, register for classes, and get their first Miami ID card. This is always an exciting time for the new students who are ready to embark upon the next step in their academic lives.
Incoming Student Orientation is also a time where Miami Athletics reaches out to make a great first impression! Each day of Orientation, Miami Athletics sets up a promotional table as part of the Resource Fair; Miami Student - Athletes, Coaches and Staff volunteer their time to meet and greet the Class of 2016 and their families. Not only does this give the new Miami attendees a chance to meet and greet with their fellow students and athletes, but also provides an upfront chance to experience the Miami way of athletics.
"Orientation offers Miami Athletics an opportunity to achieve several goals - one, welcome new members to the Miami University family; two, encourage Miami school spirit and; three, promote the best time for parents to come back to campus - Family Weekend. Last year, there were 20,000 plus that attended the Family Weekend game versus Bowling Green," state Anthony J. Azama, Director of Marketing and Sales.
Orientation offers the first opportunity for students and families to be on the lookout for RED ALERT sign ups, Family Weekend tickets, Season tickets and just an opportunity to meet the Miami Athletic Department.
Special ticket packages are available for purchase to families for the Miami Football themed "Family Weekend" which will be on October 27 versus Ohio University. Parents and families should be on the lookout for ticket information for the 2012 Football Season, as well as information regarding Athletics at the Resource Fair.
