ORLANDO, Fla. -- Alix Thurman and Nimisha Mohan won singles matches Wednesday, but that was not enough in a 5-2 loss at UCF in the first match of the annual spring break trip. The match was the first outside this season for the RedHawks, who fell to 4-10.

UCF (9-5) took the doubles point by winning at No. 1, 8-1, and at No. 3, 8-5. Chloe Heerden and Christiana Raymond held a 6-3 lead at No. 2 when play was suspended.

Thurman posted a 7-5, 6-4 victory in the No. 2 position, while Mohan eked out a three-set tiebreaker, 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (11-9).

However, UCF gained victories at No. 1 (6-2, 6-4), No. 4 (7-6, 6-1), No. 5 6-4, 6-1) and No. 6 (6-3, 1-1, retired) to seal the victory.

Miami wraps up its swing through Florida with a Thursday morning match at South Florida in Tampa.
