Captains' Corner is a weekly update from a captain or leader of one of the RedHawks' 19 teams that will run every other Thursday throughout the academic year. Today's update is from synchronized skating's Christina Lee, a senior from West Orange, New Jersey, who prepped at Mt. St. Dominic Academy and majors in exercise science. Check back on March 8 for the next edition of Captains' Corner with softball.

Counting down the days until we leave for Worcester, Massachusetts, there is an increased sense of energy, focus, and fiery passion that fills the entire Goggin Ice Center. As we head into Nationals, our confidence is getting stronger with every section we drill, and the final touches are being added to our programs. Throughout the season we have had awesome performances, with each one improving upon the last. Coming off a great showing at the French Cup in Rouen, France, we knew the next three weeks would not be easy. Despite the non-stop intense drilling and meticulous detailing, our focus and motivation remained fully present, and the moral of the team could not be better.

As a graduating senior and my third season on the senior team, I could tell from the first practice this year was going to be different. There has been a collective positive attitude and great support and encouragement from each girl on the team. Each day we take the ice with 200 percent dedication and the attention to every movement. We set new goals when we returned from France, and picked out a specific word to focus on during that practice. With every practice, we can feel ourselves becoming stronger and stronger and ready to win a national championship. It's hard to explain but this team has that special "something."

We still have three days of practice left in Oxford in which we will continue to push ourselves. We are also showcasing our programs at the National Send-off Exhibition at 2 p.m. at Goggin Ice Center. All three teams are extremely excited to show off how hard we have been working over the past three weeks.

We hope to see you all at our National Send-off! And we hope to return with a National Championship and a spot on the USA world team for the World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Love and Honor,
Christina Lee
