ROUEN, France—Miami University’s senior synchronized skating team had a strong skate in the short program at the French Cup in Rouen, France on Friday evening. The RedHawks finished the evening among the top of the 14-team field with a score of 55.20 to its program set to Blue Suede Shoes.

Entering Sunday’s free skate event, the RedHawks trail Marigold IceUnity (Finland) with a score of 63.38, Team Unique (Finland) with a score of 62.16, and Les Supremes with a score of 56.14. Miami holds a 5.36-point lead over Team Boomerang (Australia) and a 12.14-point lead over Finland’s Golden Blades. (The score for Team Paradise from Russia was not available at the time of release.)

The RedHawks complete their stint at the French Cup with Sunday’s free skate event with their program themed Gypsy.
