High School: Earned three varsity letters in both cross country and track & field at Metea Valley High School under coach Christopher Rohde, but competed all four years ... had personal bests of 2:00.04 in the 800 meter run, 4:15 in the 1600 meter run, 9:11 in the 3200 meter run and 14:30 in the three-mile for cross country ... competed in the Illinois High School State Cross Country Championship in 2010 and 2011 as well as the IHSA Track meet in 2012 ... finished 13th in the 2011 state cross country meet and sixth in the 3200m at the 2012 state track meet ... named all-state in both cross country and track as a senior and was a two-time all-region honoree ... served as team captain for both sports during his senior year.
