AKRON, Ohio – Following their first Mid-American Conference loss of the season on Friday, Miami University’s women’s tennis team bounced back in full force Saturday with a definitive, 7-0 sweep of Akron. Miami (11-6, 3-1 MAC) won all three doubles matches in addition to the six singles matches.

In doubles action, juniors Christine Guerrazzi and Alix Thurman won 8-2 at No. 1. Playing at No. 2, senior Nimisha Mohan and freshman Andreea Badileanu won 8-5 while Miami’s No. 3 doubles tandem of senior Christiana Raymond and junior Ramona Costea downed their opponents, 8-0.

The RedHawks made a statement in singles action, winning all six matches in two sets apiece. At No. 1 singles, Mohan trumped her opponent, 6-2, 6-2 while Badileanu emerged victorious at No. 2, 7-6 (2), 6-3. Playing at No. 3, Raymond won 6-3, 6-2 while Guerrazzi came out on top at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1. Costea won her No. 5 singles contest, 6-1, 6-1 while sophomore Ana Rajkovic blanked her opponent at No. 6, 6-0, 6-0.

Miami travels next weekend for another round of road contests before returning home on Saturday, April 19 when it hosts Bowling Green for Senior Day at the Hepburn Varsity Tennis Courts. RedHawk seniors Nimisha Mohan and Christiana Raymond will be honored on the court before that match.
