CARBONDALE. Ill. - Miami sits in fourth place after day one of the Mid-American Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Championships in Carbondale, Ill.

The RedHawks' 130.5 points trails first-place Eastern Michigan (242), second-place Missouri State (226) and third-place Buffalo (215.5).

In Thursday night's finals, both Miami's 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay teams finished sixth with respective times of 123.89 and 3:19.87, earning 26 points apiece.

In the 500-yard freestyle, two-time MAC winner Alex Reinhardt placed sixth with a time of 4:27.64. Freshman teammates Chris Dieter (4:44.16) placed 14th overall while Sean Neri (4:41.01) finished 16th.

Although the RedHawks didn't have any finalists, Miami's Sam Crockett (1:51.04) and Andy Kilkenny (1:52.36) earned points in the consolation finals, placing 11th and 16th, respectively.

Sophomore Joe Baumgarter tied for fifth in the 50 freestyle. Buffalo's Ryan Smrekar and Baumgarter both had times of 20.64. Freshman Jake Prodoehl placed 13th overall with a time of 21.10.

On the one-meter board Thursday night, RedHawk senior divers Mike Grainger (332.35) and Chris Hoppler (312.10) placed fourth and sixth, respectively. Freshman Michael Nash won the consolation finals Thursday afternoon, earning nine points for his ninth-place overall finish.
