OXFORD, Ohio—Miami’s men’s swimming and diving team finished in second following the third and final day of competition at the Miami Invitational in the Nixon Aquatic Center.
Denison won the invitational scoring 2,584.5 points. Miami earned 1,468 behind a great team effort. Wright State (1,297.5 points), Emory (1,293.5 points), Cincinnati (1,072.5 points) and Urbana (291 points) rounded out the competition.
Bader finished in second-place, earning 30 points for Miami, in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:02.57. He was also a member of Miami’s 200 medley relay team with sophomore Heshan Unamboowe, Stafford and senior Dan Nemeth, that finished in fourth-place (1:31.83).
Stafford was a fifth-place finisher in the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.75. His performance earned the RedHawks a key 27 points towards their team score. Baumgartner was a fifth-place finisher in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.61, in addition to his contributions to Miami’s fourth-place finishing 400 freestyle relay team with sophomore Chris Dieter, sophomore Jake Prodoehl and Nemeth (3:04.07).
Dieter also swam to an eighth-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:37.37). Prodoehl was a sixth-place finisher in the 200 backstroke (1:51.29), just ahead of teammates Sam Flessner (1:51.69) and Sean Neri (1:53.60) who finished seventh and ninth respectively.
The RedHawks have the rest of December off from competition and will return to action on Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Nixon Aquatic Center against Cincinnati.
