OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University field hockey team returns to action after a weekend off when it hosts UC Davis in a non-conference contest on Tuesday. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
Miami (4-4 overall) won its only game of the week last Wednesday against the rival Ohio State Buckeyes. Junior back Ali Froede was able to give the RedHawks an early 1-0 lead, but in the 31st minute Ohio State tied it and the teams went into halftime tied 1-1. Senior forward Emily Gruesser broke the tie in the 51st minute to give Miami the 2-1 advantage and the RedHawks never looked back. Sophomore midfielder Bea Dechant and junior midfielder Valentina Neira also scored goals to help secure Miami’s 4-2 win.
UC Davis is 1-4 in 2013. When it last played on September 15, the Aggies were defeated 6-0 by Michigan. Redshirt freshman Danielle Koehne leads the Aggies with four goals in five games this season, including the game winner against Missouri State earlier this year.
The RedHawks next head to Bloomington, Ind. for a pair of contests. Miami will take on host Indiana Friday at 3 p.m. The RedHawks conclude the week with a neutral site contest against 12th-ranked Penn State on Saturday at 2 p.m.
