2012-2013: Baumgartner began his season with first-place finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle races against Xavier .He took third in the 50 free and second in the 100 free at Purdue, then took second in both contests aginst Cleveland State. He also finished first in the 400 medlery relay and second in the 400 free relay against CSU. He finished second in the 800 free final and third in the 100 free in the Miami Invitational. He also took fifth in the 200 free relay and 400 medley relays, sixth in the 50 free and 400 free relay, and finished 22nd in the 200 free. Competing against Cincinnati, the sophomore took first in the 400 medley relay, as well as the 50 and 100 free races. He again took first in the 100 free against Buffalo and Eastern Michigan, then won the 50 and 100 free against Ball State. At the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championships, Baumgartner finished fifth in the 100 free, tied for fifth in the 50 free, and finished fourth in the 800 free relay. High School: Earned all-state and all-conference honors ... set school record for the 50 freestyle (21.20), 100 freestyle (45.80) and 200 freestyle (1:42.00) ... ranked third in the 100 free and fifth in the 200 free in Missouri ... was team captain senior year ... also played three years of water polo.
