NASHPORT, Ohio – The Miami University men’s golf team is in seventh place after two rounds of the Mid-American Conference Championship on Friday. The RedHawks shot a round of 311 in the morning and improved by six shots to shoot a 305 in the afternoon at the Longaberger Golf Course. Miami is at 40-over par as a team. Kent State leads the tournament at 15-over par.

Senior Brett Tomfohrde was the RedHawks’ top individual on Friday. He shot two rounds of 75 to finish the day tied for 12th at six-over par. Redshirt junior Mark MacDonald had the best round of the day with a two-over par 74 in the second round. He is tied for 20th overall at 10-over par.

Sophomore Scott Cahill is 34th at 14-over par. Junior Austin Kelly is right behind him in a tie for 35th at 15-over par. Sophomore Luke Shaughnessy shot a round of five-over par 77 in the morning, but was forced to withdraw from the second round due to injury. While he is no longer eligible for the individual title, he is allowed to continue to compete in the next two rounds if he is physically able to as part of the team competition.

The MAC Championship continues with the third round on Saturday.
