CLEVELAND - For the first time in her career, Miami University senior Kelley Miller was named to the Academic All-MAC Women's Cross Country Team for the 2011 season, the Mid-American Conference announced Monday.

Although this is Miller's first time earning the honor for cross country, she has twice been named Academic All-MAC in track, doing so for outdoor season in 2010 and for indoor season in 2011. She was one of 16 women selected to the 2011 Academic All-MAC Cross Country Team as the RedHawks have landed at least one woman on the team each of the last seven years (since 2005).

Miller (Dublin, Ohio) carried a 3.32 GPA last semester and upped her GPA to 3.34 after earning a perfect 4.0 during the 2011 fall semester. She is majoring in speech pathology and audiology while minoring in coaching.

Miller ran in six of seven races for Miami and was its top finisher two times while scoring in five of the six races. She won her first individual title at the Miami Open Sept. 10, clocking a 5K season-best time of 18:11, which also earned her MAC Runner of the Week. She was also Miami's top finisher at the Penn State National Meet Oct. 14, claiming 26th in a field of 268 in 22:16. Miller placed eighth overall and fourth on the team at the All-Ohio Championship Sept. 30 in 18:13.24 to help Miami win the title. She recorded a career-best 6K time of 21:20 at the Spartan Invite Sept. 16, placing 14th overall (of 231) and second on the team. At the MAC Championship Oct. 29, she was 24th and fifth on the team (21:58.1) and was 115th at the Great Lakes Regional Nov. 12.

Senior Jillian Dickman (Madison, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Monica Fischer (Cincinnati, Ohio) both landed on the 2011 Cross Country Academic Honor Roll by being eligible for Academic All-MAC, as both have GPAs over 3.3.

To be eligible for the Academic All-MAC Team, student-athletes must have completed at least one year at their institution, competed in at least half the team's races and have a cumulative GPA above 3.20.
