OXFORD, Ohio – Senior Dave Wing has done it again for the Miami University men’s cross country team. For the third consecutive week, Wing was named Mid-American Conference Men’s Runner of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday morning.

Wing (Naperville, Ill.) paced the RedHawks at the Bluegrass Cross Country Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., taking 11th overall in the team’s first 8K race of the season. Wing had a monumental performance at Masterson Station Park Saturday morning, crossing the finish line in a career high 24:17. 21. He shattered his best 8K time from last season’s All-Ohio Championship where he was Miami’s top finisher in 24:52.80. Wing was also 31 seconds faster than senior teammate Matt Marol, who finished 23rd overall in 24:48.60. Racing against a field of 77 runners from nationally ranked Oklahoma State and Eastern Kentucky, Louisville, Kentucky, Akron, Cincinnati, Mount St. Joseph and Transylvania, Wing helped Miami to a fifth-place finish at the meet.

This is the third MAC Runner of the Week Award Wing has received in his career as a RedHawk. He was also chosen as Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week for a third straight week on Tuesday, and was selected as Second-Team All-MAC last season.

Wing and the rest of the RedHawks will return to action Friday, Oct. 4 when they travel to Cedarville, Ohio for the All-Ohio Championship. The men’s race is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
