2012: Started 10 of the RedHawks' 11 games ... second on the team with 81 tackles ... had seven stops and an interception against Kent State ... had five tackles to go with an interception and fumble recovery against Buffalo ... tallied five tackles, one interception and one QB hurry in the victory over Ohio ... had eight tackles against Cincinnati one week after recording seven against Akron to go along with an interception ... after a six-tackle effort (0.5 TFL) vs. SIU as a starter, he followed that performance up with five stops at Boise State ... vs. OSU, Burris had seven stops, one TFL for minus-3 yards and 1 PBU.

SCOUTING REPORT: Miami's true sophomore from Texas has been penciled in as the starter at strong safety for 2012.

2011: Appeared in seven games, recording 18 total tackles (16 solos) as well as a forced fumble ... also returned three kicks for 50 yards ... made his debut against Missouri (Sept. 3) registering one tackle and returning one kick for 16 yards ... had a career-high 10 tackles (all solo) against Army (Oct. 8) including one tackle for loss ... among 120 Division I teams nationwide, he helped RedHawks rank 22nd in tackles for loss, 24th in passing defense, 36th in first down defense and 39th in scoring defense.

HIGH SCHOOL: Coached by Walt Beasley at Humble High School ... played several positions for Wildcats, including defensive back, wide receiver, and punt and kickoff returner ... team compiled an 11-2 record in 2010 and was District 18's 4A champion ... Burris was a first-team all-district defensive back ... two-time captain and three-time letter winner in football ... also an outstanding sprinter for Humble's track team, having been clocked at :10.7 in 100 meters ... a first-team all-academic selection three years in a row ... in community service, he participated in the Shoes for Kids program.

PERSONAL: Born Oct. 11, 1992 ... enjoys drawing in his free time ... will major in engineering at Miami University ... the son of Kathy Burris.
